Yesterday the Russian currency lost 10 per cent of its value. This caused a necessity to summit an extraordinary meeting of the Russian central bank, during which the interest ratres were raised by 650 base points to 17 per cent. What can the future hold for our region and are we under threat of another crisis?
(...) The situation of the Russian rouble appeared not only in the currency analyses over the past weeks. Falling oil prices and the Ukrainian conflict altogether with economic sanctions has caused the Russian currency to lose its value on a daily basis. It is worth noting, however, that the sell-off was not panic-stricken and was correlated to falls in petroleum prices?.
