Cinkciarz.pl sp. z o.o. files a notification to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) on the existence of practices restricting competition by SGB-Bank S.A. with its registered office in Poznan, Poland. The notification concerns the actions of SGB-Bank S.A. aimed at eliminating Cinkciarz.pl from the market for currency exchange services, particularly by urging affiliated cooperative banks to cease cooperation with Cinkciarz.pl.
The notice filed is based on a letter from SGB-Bank S.A. dated May 27, 2015, in which the cooperative bank provided false and misleading information about Cinkciarz.pl, suggesting alleged reputational and financial risks associated with currency exchange through the online exchange office. As a result of these actions, most cooperative banks ceased cooperating with Cinkciarz.pl, leading to a sharp decline in the Company's turnover.
The case has been pending for years and is being prosecuted by the District Court in Poznan. The status of the case and the evidence obtained entitle Cinkciarz.pl to demand that the UOKiK initiate proceedings to investigate the case and impose appropriate sanctions on SGB-Bank S.A.
