The election of Janet Yellen for the new Federal Reserve chair means that a mild monetary policy from her predecessor, Ben Bernanke, will continue. Moreover, Yellen’s policy may be even milder. Therefore, the money supply increase will continue, in order to revive the global demand. In order to do this, the dollar needs to be cheap.
