Is it possible to maintain personal style despite the limitations imposed by a company’s dress code? Maja Sablewska, Polish fashion icon and music manager, in cooperation with Cinkciarz.pl, prepared a brief manual regarding professional aesthetic.

Self-assured and confident. Full of energy and optimism. Awareness of personal strengths, but not shying away from self-improvement. Well dressed, but not stuffy. Maja Sablewska wants to see more of this type of image in the Polish business world. – Fashion is but a single vehicle in which to make each and every one of us look and feel good. The idea is to create a package - mind and attire – Sablewska described during a meeting with staff from Cinkciarz.pl. This was the first time that Sablewska had been invited by a Polish company to utilize her image consulting skills.

During a two-day long workshop, Maja Sablewska performed a few stylistic transformations. She doesn’t hide that this was the first time she encountered a company caring so deeply for the image and comfort of its employees. – Cinkciarz.pl is not only a currency exchange company, it’s also an innovative and creative environment, integrating over 170 employees. This project is yet another initiative to help us build a cohesive atmosphere in our team and create conditions for personal growth for every employee – explained Kamil Sahaj, Chief Marketing Officer, Cinkciarz.pl.

Here are 6 tips from Maja Sablewska, image advisor, that will help connect individual style with the requirements of working in an office.

  1. Pay attention to image
Obvious? Not always. When working for the same company for a longer time, we can fall victim to routine and stop concentrating on adequate attire. Our appearance sends a message to other people. Especially when functioning in a business environment, we should always remember that an appropriate impression is important. It helps to build self-confidence and shows that you take your job seriously.

  2. Avoid excess and gaudiness
Less is more – this is a golden rule when it comes to work clothing. This goes for putting together too many colors, choosing too intense and gaudy patterns, or wearing an excessive number of flashy accessories for men and women alike. Keep in mind that it is very important to balance our look.

  3. Fashion from top to bottom...
The most important thing is to feel comfortable at work, although we should avoid being excessively casual. If the nature of our job allows us to wear sneakers, let’s put on something more refined like a jacket or a tie. If we are wearing very elegant shoes, we can wear jeans or creased trousers for balance.

  4. Glasses that fit your character
We often don’t realize that choosing frames is just as important as getting a haircut. It’s one of those things that isn’t worth being too frugal about. It’s also not worth forcing something that doesn’t suit your face. Something that is stereotypically ‘classic’ but does not fit our individual style should be avoided.

  5. Don’t be afraid of white
White shirts should be a significant part of your work wardrobe. They are classy and elegant, brighten our faces and make them look well-rested, which is important in an office space.

  6. Flip-flops in the office? If so, then…
I generally think people should avoid flip-flops or other sports shoes in an office. They are quite trendy nowadays, but they are good for the beach or the streets, rather than the office. The same goes for sandals.
