Editorial staff of the “Wprost” weekly newspaper took into account “companies with national capital, so the ones controlled by the State Treasury, the Polish private entrepreneurs, and the companies being a communal ownership”. The position on the list was determined by the total of sales income achieved in 2014.
The head of the ranking was dominated by the national companies. The first three positions were taken by the petrol corporations: Orlen, PGNiG, and Lotos. It was not until 14th that the first Polish private company appeared. It was Polska Sieć Handlowa Lewiatan, a small supermarket chain.
